Our Story:
Amy Pizano was living in Arizona, working for the Intel Corporation, dreaming of someday moving
home to St. Louis to follow her dream of working with and for animals.  In May 2004, her dream
became a reality when her husband Luis was relocated to St. Louis.

Pets in the City is dedicated to the memory of Amy's late dog "Schelsca ~ Scoobie Doobie"  At the
age of 12, Scoobs  was diagnosed with congestive heart disease, a weak liver and kidneys, and a
seizure disorder.  Amy was told that Schelsca didn't have long to live.  With this said, Amy turned to
natural remedies. Although she had no formal training in pet nutrition, Amy spent hours upon hours
researching natural health care in books, periodicals, and the Internet.  This is where she began to learn
and to respect natural health care for pets, as well as for people.

As Amy read up on Scoobs' condition, she soon realized that the dog would benefit from a healthier
diet.  This is where Amy's interest in natural pet nutrition sky-rocketed.  Schelsca spent the remaining
years of her life looking like a 5 year old Cocker (as opposed to the teen that she was).  Amy had her
on a strict diet of medicinal herbs, nutritional supplements, homemade diets and natural foods and
treats.

With Schelsca's illness moving the Pizano family to a more holistic approach to pet care, the other
members of the family soon benefited.  The senior Weimaraner, Heidi, was switched to an all-natural
diet and additional vitamins and minerals, and soon after stopped wetting the bed at night (incontinence
is a common occurrence in senior female dogs) and her arthritis pain has subsided.  In addition, the
younger two dogs (Pit Bull Lexi and Collie/Dobie Foster) have been 100% raised on an all-natural
diet, along with the best supplements that Amy can find.  The Pizano's parrot, Guinness; and their cats,
Kramer and Macy, have also been introduced to a more holistic form of care.

Amy had always wanted to own a pet-related business, but her new-found respect of natural health
care for pets has made it a necessity of love to open a store rooted in community education of natural
health care!
Blessed is the person
who has earned the love
of an old dog."

Rest in Peace, Best Friend
There are places I’ll remember
All my life though some have changed
Some forever not for better
Some have gone and some remain
All these places have their moments
With lovers and friends I still can recall
Some are dead and some are living
In my life I’ve loved them all

But of all these friends and lovers
There is no one compares with you
And these memories lose their meaning
When I think of love as something new
Though I know I’ll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know I’ll often stop and think about them
In my life I love you more

Though I know I’ll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know I’ll often stop and think about them
In my life I love you more
In my life I love you more
